Justin Marks writing the screenplay

Friday, February 8th, 2008

In an issue of Toy Fare a couple months back, there is an interview with Justin marks, who it would seem is working quite hard on the screenplay. Based on the interview, it sounds like they are trying to stay true to the original cartoon.

Also, it would seem the previous post with the video is Kaare Andrewsкомпютри.

Kaare Andrews explained to He-Man.org the purpose of this clip:
“This is a kind of conceptual piece for a live action film. This is a new technology I call Go-Cons or ‘animated conceptual paintings’ and represents the tone and scope of the world, not the actual end product. It was pulled together in a little over a week with a small (but talented) team. Just imagine this as an epic live action feature with a budget and full team.”

New-new movie?

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

IGN posted a bit ago:

As first reported last week, producer Joel Silver and Warner Bros. are indeed teaming for a new big-screen version of the cartoon/toy/comic book franchise He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. The producer and the studio previously collaborated on the Matrix and Lethal Weapon franchises, as well as on V for Vendetta and The Reaping.

We can only hope this one makes it further than the last announcement with John Woo.

Anyways, the new IMDB page has little extra info, other than a release date of 2009.

Fox2000 no longer has the movie rights

Sunday, February 11th, 2007

According to MovieHole, Fox2000 has given the movie rights back to Mattel.

Executive Producer Rodney Ferrell (“Flicka”), of Fox2000 pics, tells Moviehole that they’ve just literally just wiped their hands clean of the property.

“This was a project set up at Fox”, begins Ferrell, “but in the recent months we gave the project back to Mattel and are no longer involved”.

It may still be possible that Woo and Mattel are interested in this project, but the current incarnation under development by Fox is now no longer to be.
